Christie Exit Shifts Focus to Romney - NEIL KING JR., LISA FLEISHER and JONATHAN WEISMAN

Ah, and here is the Eastern Conservative right now, just in from pushing Christie unsuccessfully into the race, telling us how much their second choice is still super groovy.

Much of Christie's campaign-that-wasn't owed a lot to very wealthy eastern donors, the kind that think the Republican party would be even more super awesome if they could just focus on taxes and gutting unions and forget all the wacko social stuff and have the crackers quietly vote for them without freaking people out.

The electorate's repeated reluctance to get behind Romney and the belief of the eastern elites that somehow the crackers would have backed Christie tells you everything you need to know about the GOP's myriad problems before the election. Obama is weak, but they are making the mistake of thinking that they are a shoo in.
