Santorum challenges policy on prenatal testing - Tom Cohen

"One of the mandates is they require free prenatal testing in every insurance policy in America," Santorum, a conservative Roman Catholic, told a Christian Alliance luncheon in Columbus. "Why? Because it saves money in health care. Why? Because free prenatal testing ends up in more abortions and therefore less care that has to be done, because we cull the ranks of the disabled in our society."

The assumption that all prenatal testing is done to determine whether you want to abort the fetus or not is so misinformed and will alienate so many voters I wonder at this point if Santorum himself has decided that he would make a bad president and has decided to sabotage his own campaign. This statement, in one swoop, accuses all women who undergo prenatal testing, or want it to be free to expecting mothers, of being prospective aborters. While some portion of them may decide to abort the baby, I would wager that millions upon millions more just want to know and would also probably resent the accusation by Santorum.

What kind of dope speaks out against free prenatal testing? One that is beating Mitt Romney, of course.
