Like the Red Sox five years ago with Matsuzaka, the Rangers will have 30 days to come to an agreement with the tall, lanky right-hander. Darvish’s ceiling is said to be higher than Matsuzaka’s based on his body type, stuff and past results.
Matsuzaka, who has one year remaining on his deal, wound up costing the Sox a total of $103.1 million: $51.1 million for the posting fee and $52 million in a six-year contract.

Given the Dice-K debacle there was no way the Sox could bid on Darvish, meaning he will almost certainly turn out great.
The Rangers were wise to let CJ Wilson go to the Angels, especially with this up their sleeves.
