It's February now, so this would seem to be the team that is going to be on the field come the summer. There may be an adjustment here or there, but I think the window to add big names is closed. The Sox are a decent team, maybe the 5th best or so in the AL, not as good as the Yankees, a little behind the Rangers and the Rays, better than the Angels. They should be competitive and entertaining all year long but this is not a World Series contender, though they could sneak into the playoffs. It's important to remember that they have two All Star level starting pitchers (Lester and Beckett), four big time sluggers (Ortiz, Gonzalez, Youks, and Pedroia) and one of the best leadoff men in baseball (Ellsbury). Add to that an improved bullpen and a cast of competent, if overpaid, guys like Crawford and we have the makings of an exciting team. Go Sox!
