These are all minor league contracts. Carlos Silva remains one of the all time swindlers in major league baseball, though the Mariners played their part as huge suckers when he was doing the swindling. He walks very few people, but he strikes out even fewer, meaning that he puts a lot of balls in play and depends on the defense to do a little extra. Of course, if you have an average defense or Carlos is letting the ball rise a bit that day, you're in big trouble.

This is a decent and low-risk minor league signing. Hopefully we will only see him pitching at the major league level a few times.
