And they're off! - Live-blogging the Republican debate - The Economist

http://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2011/06/live-blogging-republican-debate

1. Romney won and solidified his position as the front runner, something he is unlikely to release easily.
2. Michelle Bachmann appeared frighteningly normal and will possibly win Iowa, then create some noise and recede.
3. Pawlenty egged himself in the face. He did not appear in command and did not rise to the moment (several times). Unless he manages to pass Bachmann in the first two primaries he is done. So, in other words, he is done.
4. Herman Cain is not going to do much of anything and a year from now will be a circuit speaker, but not much else.
5. Gingrich continued his grifter tour and apparently will keep it up for some time.
6. Santorum showed (again) repeatedly why he is not higher office material and should work for a one-man think tank, like he already does.
