It's a sad joke that John Huntsman is running as a Democrat. He's everything Mitt is not, including having actual standards and beliefs. Here Huntsman is right, as usual, and Mitt is wrong, which can change if you have a little bit of patience.

Mitt is going for the applause line here. We can't cut and run? What is this, 2006? Huntsman stays tethered to the reality of the situation while the others wash their hands of the tough military questions by deferring to "the generals". (I know Truman would have been better off just telling McArthur to get back to him when he was finished starting a nuclear war).

In any case, when Afghanistan has become a dead letter at the Republican debate, it really is over.
