So in summary, as the day went on Cain's story "evolved". The sequence went like this:
1. I have never heard of these allegations.
2. I never sexually harassed anyone
3. I never heard of a settlement
4. There was a settlement, but I prefer to call it an agreement
5. I remember the ladies and the allegations
6. The general counsel described the settlement to me (also using the word settlement)
And this is all in one day! Mitt Romney is the luckiest bastard walking the planet. There is a lot of question as to whether Herman Cain's support will plummet after these rolling revelations. The answer is not yet. The conservative base that has taken to Cain distrusts the media and looks to talk radio for its truth. Limbaugh is squarely supporting Cain at this point, though he was doing that based on a different set of "truths" before Herman took to the airwaves, so there is no danger there. But more importantly is that these voters have nowhere else to go. Having flitted from Palin to Trump to Bachmann to Perry to Cain they have no natural home left. No other candidates are entering the race so they are stuck.
These voters will stick to Cain as long as they can but this story has some more details. It's also worth noting that, more than likely, Cain's current commentary on the matter will free these women from their agreement to remain silent about the affair. Their stories are going to come out, and if I know Herman Cain, their version is going to be decidedly different.
